Service. Click the browse (...) button to select the desired service associated with your<br />

host.<br />

Command. Use the list box to select either Start or Stop, depending on whether you<br />

want the associated alert to Start or Stop the service you have selected.<br />

Tip: To check the status of an action, or to cancel an action, on the console go to Tools ><br />

Running Actions.<br />

Adding and Editing a Web Alarm Action<br />

For more information on how Web Alarms work, see the Working with Web Alarms topic.<br />

To add or edit a Web alarm action:<br />

1 Click the Admin tab, then click Action Library.<br />

2 Click New, then select Web Alarm from the list to create a new Web alarm action. Click<br />

OK.<br />

Select the Web Alarm you want to change from the list of current actions, and then click<br />

Edit.<br />

3 Type or select the appropriate information in the following fields.<br />

Name. Type a name for the action. This name displays in the Action Library.<br />

Description. Type a short description. This description displays next to the action in<br />

the Action Library.<br />

Message. Type a short message to send to the visual cue part of the Web Alarm in the<br />

web interface. You can use percent variable codes to display specific information in<br />

the message body.<br />

Play Sound. Select this option to play the sound file whenever a web alarm action<br />

fires. Clear this option to only have the visual cue appear in the Web Interface.<br />

Sound file name. Select a sound file that is installed in your \Program<br />

Files\<strong>Ipswitch</strong>\<strong>WhatsUp</strong>\HTML\Nm.Web.UI\WebSounds directory. Custom<br />

sounds added to this directory appear in the drop-down list.<br />

4 Click OK to save changes.<br />

Note: For Web Alarms to work properly, your browser must support embedded sound files.<br />

The Web Alarm popup window<br />

When a Web Alarm Action fires, and you are logged in to the <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> web interface,<br />

the Web Alarm popup box appears in your browser. From here, you can dismiss one or all of<br />

the alarms listed. You can also mute them. Muting an alarm leaves the alarm listed, but stops<br />

the alarm from sounding.<br />

Note: You cannot disable Web Alarms from the popup window.<br />
