Creating new roles<br />

To create a new device role:<br />

1 From the Discovery console, select Advanced > Device role settings. The Device Role<br />

Settings dialog appears.<br />

2 Click Add. The Role Settings Editor dialog appears.<br />

3 Configure the new device role. When you are done, click OK. The Role Settings Editor<br />

dialog closes.<br />

Duplicating device roles<br />

To duplicate an existing device role:<br />

1 From the Discovery console, select Advanced > Device role settings. The Device Role<br />

Settings dialog appears.<br />

2 Select a device role, then click the gear icon ( ). A menu appears.<br />

3 Select Duplicate selected role from the menu. A copy of the selected role is added to<br />

the list and selected.<br />

4 To modify it, click Configure. The Role Settings Editor dialog appears.<br />

5 Modify the device role.<br />

6 When you are finished modifying the role, click OK. The Role Settings Editor dialog<br />

closes.<br />

Modifying device roles<br />

To modify an existing device role:<br />

1 From the Discovery console, select Advanced > Device role settings. The Device Role<br />

Settings dialog appears.<br />

2 Select a device role, then click Configure. The Role Settings Editor dialog appears.<br />

3 Modify the device role.<br />

4 When you are finished modifying the role, click OK. The Role Settings Editor dialog<br />

closes.<br />

Enabling or disabling device roles<br />

To enable/disable a device role:<br />

1 From the Discovery console, select Advanced > Device role settings. The Device Role<br />

Settings dialog appears.<br />

2 Select a device role, then click the gear icon ( ). A menu appears.<br />

3 If the device role is disabled, select Enable selected role. If the device role is enabled,<br />

select Disable selected role. The device role's status is immediately updated in the list.<br />
