<strong>Ipswitch</strong> <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> <strong>User</strong> <strong>Guide</strong><br />

Important: The command or script must return a single numeric value.<br />

Note: If you create a script to run on the remote device, the script must be developed,<br />

tested, and/or debugged on the remote machine. <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> does not support<br />

manipulation of the remote script.<br />

SSH Credential. Select the appropriate SSH credential that <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> will use to<br />

connect to the remote device. If you select Use the device SSH credential, <strong>WhatsUp</strong><br />

<strong>Gold</strong> uses the SSH credential assigned to the device to which the monitor is assigned.<br />

If the appropriate SSH credential is not listed, or the device has no SSH credentials<br />

assigned, browse (...) to the <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> Credentials Library to configure a set of<br />

credentials.<br />

6 Click OK.<br />

7 Click Close to close the Monitor Library.<br />

Creating device-specific custom performance monitors<br />

Device-specific custom performance monitors are configured for use only on the devices for<br />

which they are configured.<br />

You can create device-specific custom monitors for APC UPS, Printer, Active Script, SNMP, and<br />

WMI performance counters.<br />

Creating device-specific SNMP performance monitors<br />

To create a device-specific SNMP performance monitor:<br />

1 In Details or Map View, right-click a device, then select Properties. The Device<br />

Properties dialog appears.<br />

2 Click Performance Monitors. The Device Properties - Performance Monitors dialog<br />

appears.<br />

3 In the Configure and enable performance monitors for this device section, click Add.<br />

The Select Performance Monitor Type dialog appears.<br />

4 Select SNMP, then click OK. The Add SNMP Performance Monitor dialog appears.<br />

5 Enter a Name and short Description for the monitor. This information helps you to<br />

identify the monitor later.<br />

6 Click the browse (...) button next to Instance to access the SNMP MIB Browser. The MIB<br />

Browse dialog appears.<br />

7 Enter the or select (using the browse (...) button) the IP address of the computer to<br />

which you want to connect to browse MIBs.<br />

8 Select the SNMP credential set used to connect to the device to which you are<br />

attempting to connect.<br />

Tip: If you do not see the appropriate credential set listed, click the browse (...) button to<br />

access the Credentials Library where you may create a new set of SNMP credentials.<br />

9 Optionally, adjust the values for the Timeout and number Number of retries, then click<br />

OK. The SNMP MIB Browser appears.<br />
