3 Click New and select Printer Monitor from the list to create a new printer monitor. Click<br />

OK.<br />

Select the printer monitor you want to change from the list of current monitors, and<br />

then click Edit.<br />

4 Complete the information for the following fields.<br />

Name. Type a name for the active monitor. This name displays in the Active Monitor<br />

Library.<br />

Description. Type a short description for the monitor. This description displays next<br />

to the monitor in the Active Monitor Library.<br />

5 Complete the information in the Failure Criteria section:<br />

If the ink level in any of the cartridges falls below___%. Type a numerical value for<br />

the threshold. If the ink level of any printer ink cartridge falls below this percentage,<br />

the monitor is considered down. By default, this option is not selected.<br />

If the printer registers any of the following alerts. By default, the monitor watches<br />

for all of the listed printer alerts. If you do not want to monitor a particular alert, clear<br />

its selection in the list. If the printer registers one of the selected alerts, the monitor is<br />

considered down.<br />

Note: Your printer may not support all of the SNMP objects associated with the available<br />

monitor alert checks.<br />

Tip: Click Advanced to set the SNMP timeout and number of retries.<br />

6 Click OK to save changes.<br />

After configuring an active monitor in the Active Monitor Library, add the monitor to devices<br />

(on page 226).<br />

Adding and editing a Process Monitor<br />

This monitor uses SNMP to monitor the status of device processes and issues state changes as<br />

needed. The Process Monitor can detect whether a process is running. You can use this<br />

monitor to verify that anti-spyware or antivirus software is running of a device. If the monitor<br />

does not find the specified program running, an associated action notifies you of this<br />

potentially harmful vulnerability.<br />
