<strong>Ipswitch</strong> <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> <strong>User</strong> <strong>Guide</strong><br />

To stop a <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> or plug-in service:<br />

1 Go to the <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Services Controller dialog.<br />

From the console, select Tools > Services Manager. The <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Services Controller<br />

dialog appears.<br />

- or -<br />

From the the Programs menu, click <strong>Ipswitch</strong> <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> > Utilities > Service<br />

Manager. The <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Services Controller dialog appears.<br />

2 In the <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Service Controller, select the service you want to stop by clicking its<br />

service Description.<br />

3 Click Stop.<br />

To start a <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> or plug-in service:<br />

1 Go to the <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Services Controller dialog.<br />

From the console, select Tools > Services Manager. The <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Services Controller<br />

dialog appears.<br />

- or -<br />

From the the Programs menu, click <strong>Ipswitch</strong> <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> > Utilities > Service<br />

Manager. The <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Services Controller dialog appears.<br />

2 In the <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Service Controller, select the service you want to start by clicking its<br />

service Description.<br />

Click Start.<br />

To restart a <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> or plug-in service:<br />

1 Go to the <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Services Controller dialog.<br />

From the console, select Tools > Services Manager. The <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Services Controller<br />

dialog appears.<br />

- or -<br />

From the the Programs menu, click <strong>Ipswitch</strong> <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> > Utilities > Service<br />

Manager. The <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Services Controller dialog appears.<br />

2 In the <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Service Controller, select the service you want to restart by clicking its<br />

service Description.<br />

3 Click Restart.<br />

Setting Advanced Options<br />

You can set advanced options to configure the timeout and number of retries for the<br />

monitor.<br />

Type or select the appropriate information in the following fields.<br />

Timeout (seconds). Type the amount of time (in seconds) you want <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> to<br />

attempt collecting data on a device.<br />

Number of Retries. Type the number of times you want <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> to attempt<br />

collecting data, when the device does not respond.<br />
