Select Action Type<br />

Select an action type from the list menu. The configuration dialog for that type appears.<br />

Select the type of action you want to create for this device. The menu lists all possible actions<br />

that can occur through the <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> action system.<br />

Active Script Action. Write code to perform a customized action.<br />

Beeper Action. Activate a beeper with this type of action.<br />

Email Action. Send an Email to a specific address.<br />

Log to Text File. Write a message to a text file.<br />

Pager Action. Send a message to a pager.<br />

Program Action. Execute an external application.<br />

Service Restart Action. Start or stop a Windows service.<br />

SMS Action. Send a text message to a specific target.<br />

SMS Direct. Send a text message to a wireless phone or other wireless device.<br />

SNMP Set. Use SNMP to set the value of an attribute of a managed object.<br />

Sound Action. Play a specific sound.<br />

SSH Action. Runs a command or script on a remote machine.<br />

Syslog Action. Write a message to a log in the Syslog system.<br />

Text to Speech Action. Plays a voice message on your computer.<br />

VMware Action. Use the VMware API to perform an action on a virtual machine.<br />

Web Alarm Action. Activate a Web Alarm in the <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> Web Interface<br />

Windows Event Log Action. Write an event in the Windows Event Log.<br />

Winpopup Action. Send a Winpopup to a user or specific computer.<br />

WinEvent Condition<br />

Not. Select this option to filter the conditions that match the string.<br />

Parameter. Select a Windows Event Log parameter to match on.<br />

Category. Subcategory for this event. This subcategory is source-specific.<br />

CategoryString. Translation of the subcategory. The translation is source-specific.<br />

Computer. The computer that the event took place on.<br />

Event ID. Identifier of the event. This is specific to the source that generated the<br />

event log entry, and is used, together with Source, to uniquely identify a Windows NT<br />

event type.<br />

Event Type. Type of event.<br />

Value and Meaning of the Event Type:<br />

1 Error<br />

2 Warning<br />
