8 Click OK. <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> saves the LDAP credentials and the LDAP Credentials dialog<br />

closes.<br />

Note: After you have entered the LDAP credentials you can create user accounts for those<br />

users that you want to allow access by authenticating using the username and passwords<br />

that are available on the LDAP server with which you have configured <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> to<br />

communicate.<br />

Test LDAP credentials<br />

Use the Test LDAP Credentials dialog to test the LDAP or Active Directory credentials you<br />

have entered in the LDAP Credentials dialog.<br />

To Test LDAP or Active Directory credentials:<br />

1 Navigate to the LDAP Credentials dialog (Admin > LDAP Credentials).<br />

2 Type the LDAP Credentials you want to test using the LDAP Credentials dialog.<br />

3 Click Test. The Test LDAP Credentials dialog appears.<br />

4 Type a valid user name that has access to the LDAP or Active Directory server in <strong>User</strong><br />

name.<br />

5 Type the password associated with the user name in Password.<br />

6 Click Test. <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> attempts to connect using the credentials and returns a test<br />

success or failure message.<br />

7 Click OK. The test message closes.<br />

8 Click Close. The Test LDAP Credentials dialog closes.<br />

Browse Active Directory<br />

Use the Browse Active Directory dialog to select the Active Directory (AD) groups from which<br />

you want to allow users to log in to <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong>.<br />

To select groups from the Browse Active Directory dialog:<br />

1 Navigate to the LDAP Credentials dialog (Admin > LDAP Credentials).<br />

2 Ensure the correct Active Directory server is configured (Domain Controller, port and<br />

server type). For more information see Setting LDAP Credentials (on page 848).<br />

3 Click Browse. The Browse Active Directory dialog appears.<br />

4 Type a valid user name that has access to the LDAP or Active Directory server in <strong>User</strong><br />

name.<br />

5 Type the password associated with the user name in Password.<br />

6 Press Tab. The list of the most used AD groups appears.<br />

Tip: You can see all of the groups available on the AD server by selecting Show all groups.<br />

7 Select the AD groups you want to map to <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> groups.<br />
