lower baud rate). To do this, set up an alternate Modem Setup and associate this to<br />

the notification instead of using your Primary setting.<br />

Note: Changing the Port Settings for the desired Modem Setup affects all uses of that<br />

setting.<br />

Up code. Specifies the characters sent to the beeper to indicate that the device is up<br />

after being down (the default value is 0*).<br />

Down Code. Specifies the code sent to indicate the device is down (the default value<br />

is 1*).<br />

On passive monitor code. Specifies the code sent to indicate that an active monitor<br />

has been received for the device. (Default value is 2*) You can use the asterisk (*)<br />

character to separate codes from a subsequent message.<br />

Recurring action code. The percent variables for the action. The default action code<br />

is:<br />

%System.NumberofUpDevices*%System.NumberofDownDevices<br />

4 Click OK to save changes.<br />

Tip: The Beeper Action can identify network devices through a specific device attribute, for<br />

more information.<br />

Tip: To check the status of an action, or to cancel an action, on the console go to Tools ><br />

Running Actions.<br />

Adding and editing a Log to Text File Action<br />

This action logs custom messages to specified text files.<br />

To add or edit a log to text file action:<br />

1 Click the Admin tab, then click Action Library.<br />

2 Click New and select Log to Text File to create a new log to text file action. Click OK.<br />

Select the action you want to change from the list of current actions, and then click Edit.<br />

3 Type or select the appropriate information in the following fields.<br />

Name. Type a name for the action. This name displays in the Action Library.<br />

Description. Type a short description. This description displays next to the action in<br />

the Action Library.Specify a Name for the action as it will appear in the Action Library.<br />

Tip: On the console, click the Browse _ button to browse to the log file.<br />

Log file. Type the full path to the location where the log file will bee written.<br />
