Creating device-specific APC UPS performance monitors<br />

To create a device-specific APC UPS performance monitor:<br />

1 In Details or Map View, right-click a device, then select Properties. The Device<br />

Properties dialog appears.<br />

2 Click Performance Monitors. The Device Properties - Performance Monitors dialog<br />

appears.<br />

3 In the Configure and enable performance monitors for this device section, click Add.<br />

The Select Performance Monitor Type dialog appears.<br />

4 Select APC UPS Performance Monitor from the list, and then click OK.<br />

5 Enter a Name and short Description for the monitor. This information helps you to<br />

identify the monitor later.<br />

6 Enter or select the appropriate information in the following fields.<br />

Collection interval. Enter how often (in minutes) you want data to be collected for<br />

the selected APC UPS. This number represents the number of minutes between each<br />

collection.<br />

Timeout. The length of time (in seconds) <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> attempts to connect to the<br />

selected device.<br />

Retries. Enter the number of times you want to attempt to make the connection to<br />

the selected device.<br />

7 Verify the configuration of the monitor, then click OK to add the monitor to the device<br />

Properties.<br />

Creating device-specific Printer performance monitors<br />

To create a device-specific Printer performance monitor:<br />

1 In Details or Map View, right-click a device, then select Properties. The Device<br />

Properties dialog appears.<br />

Important: In order for the Printer Performance Monitor to work, in addition to being SNMPenabled,<br />

the printer you are attempting to monitor must also support the Standard Printer<br />

MIB. Make sure that you select a device that supports the Standard Printer MIB.<br />

2 Click Performance Monitors. The Device Properties - Performance Monitors dialog<br />

appears.<br />

3 In the Configure and enable performance monitors for this device section, click Add.<br />

The Select Performance Monitor Type dialog appears.<br />

4 Select Printer Performance Monitor, then click OK. The New Printer Performance<br />

Monitor dialog appears.<br />

5 Enter the Name and short Description for the monitor. This information helps you to<br />

identify the monitor later.<br />

6 Select the ink/toner cartridge from which you want to collect ink/toner level data.<br />

Note: You must set up a Printer performance monitor for each color ink/toner cartridge you<br />

want to monitor.<br />
