To edit a device configuration:<br />

Select a device from the list, then click Properties. The device Properties (on page 119) dialog<br />

appears.<br />

To delete a device from a group:<br />

Select a device from the results list that is listed in the group from which you want to remove<br />

the device, then click Delete. The device is removed from the group.Use this dialog to find a<br />

device or device group(s) to which a network device belongs, then manage the device as<br />

needed.<br />

Understanding group access and user rights for Find Device<br />

Find Device adheres to the group access and user rights assigned to a <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> user<br />

account.<br />

<strong>User</strong> Rights are configured from the Manage <strong>User</strong>s dialog (click the Admin tab, then click<br />

Manage <strong>User</strong>s). Group access rights are enabled from the Manage <strong>User</strong>s dialog, but must be<br />

specified from a group's properties. For more information, see Assigning group access rights.<br />

A user account must have Group Read rights to at least one group to which a device belongs<br />

in order for it to appear in the results list. Additionally, a user account must have the following<br />

rights to perform Find Device's functions:<br />

An account must have Device Read to edit a device via Device Properties (on page<br />

119).<br />

An account must have both the Group Write and Manage Groups rights to remove a<br />

device from a group.<br />

An account must have both the Device Write and Manage Devices rights to remove a<br />

device from <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong>.<br />

Note: When you attempt to remove a device from a group and it is the last copy of that<br />

device in <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong>, if you have the appropriate rights, it is removed from <strong>WhatsUp</strong><br />

<strong>Gold</strong>.<br />

Searching for devices with interface traffic<br />

If you have Flow Monitor, you can use the device right-click menu Host Search option to<br />

display the interfaces over which traffic has been transmitted to or from a specific device.<br />

To search for device interface traffic:<br />

1 Click the Device tab, then click Devices. The Device page appears.<br />
