Configure Memory Utilization<br />

Through this data stream, you can monitor and report on memory utilization on the current<br />

device. Data collected is displayed in the Memory Utilization Report (on page 636).<br />

Collect data for. Select which specific memory items you want to gather data on. If<br />

you select All memory items from the pull-down menu, all items in the list are<br />

selected automatically. This list shows the type of memory available, and the total<br />

memory capacity (in MB.)<br />

Data collection interval. Enter how often you want data to be collected for the<br />

selected item or items. This number represents the number of minutes between each<br />

collection.<br />

Click Advanced to access Data Collection Advanced Settings.<br />

In addition to the five default performance monitors, <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> gives you the option to<br />

create custom performance monitors to track specific APC UPS, Printer, Active Script, SNMP,<br />

and WMI performance counters.<br />

You can create global monitors (on page 260) for system-wide use through the Performance<br />

Monitor Library, or create device-specific monitors (on page 264) through device Properties.<br />

Configure Ping Latency and Availability<br />

Through this data stream, you can monitor and report on how often and quickly the device<br />

responds to a Ping check. Data collected is displayed in the Ping Availability (on page 650)<br />

report.<br />

Ping timeout. Enter how long (in seconds) you want <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> to wait for a<br />

response from the device when the Ping occurs.<br />

Pings per sample. Enter how many times the device is pinged per sample collection<br />

attempt.<br />

Data collection interval. Enter how often you want data to be collected for this<br />

device. This number represents the number of minutes between each collection.<br />

Configure Data Collection Advanced Settings<br />

Use the following data collection settings for <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> to use as it attempts to collect<br />

data on the current device.<br />

Timeout. Enter the time (in seconds) that you want <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> to wait before it<br />

throws an error while attempting to collect data on a device.<br />

Retry. Enter the number of times you want <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> to attempt collecting data,<br />

when the device does not respond.<br />

Determine uniqueness by. This option is relevant to the Disk, Memory, and Interface<br />

performance monitors. Select to determine uniqueness by:<br />

Interface index. Select to determine uniqueness by the interface index.<br />
