Orang" Laut, Sabimba.—The Sabimba also abstained<br />

Irom planting, and consequently <strong>the</strong>ir vegetables con-<br />

sisted <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> wild fruits <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> jungle.^<br />

Orang" Laut, Muka Kuning.— The Orang Muka<br />

Kuning did not cultivate any plants, or breed any<br />

animals save dogs.^<br />

Orang Laut, Beduanda Kallang.— The Beduanda<br />

Kallang not only did not cultivate any plants, but<br />

asserted that <strong>the</strong>ir ancestors had made a vow on <strong>the</strong><br />

part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir tribe never to make clearings for <strong>the</strong><br />

purpose <strong>of</strong> cultivation, and stated that <strong>the</strong>y believed<br />

that if any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m were to break it death would be<br />

<strong>the</strong> consequence.^<br />
