native name <strong>of</strong> Jakun, I have merely to suggest <strong>the</strong><br />

recognition (for our present purposes) <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Jakun (or<br />

aboriginal <strong>Malay</strong>an) type as Lissotrichi, or smooth-<br />

haired individuals, in <strong>the</strong> place <strong>of</strong> Martin's mixed tribes<br />

that cannot be classed. With this slight modifica-<br />

tion, I may say that <strong>the</strong> present work is based entirely<br />

on Martin's plan <strong>of</strong> classification, which in this modi-<br />

fied form may now be given as follows :<br />
