anatomical descriptions of <strong>the</strong> North-American species Ph. carol<strong>in</strong>cusis,<br />

Hose, and <strong>the</strong> Hawaiian Ph. australis, sp. n. ; besides o<strong>the</strong>r differences, <strong>the</strong><br />

jaw is smooth <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> first and ribbed <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> second species [as also <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Japanese Ph. bil<strong>in</strong>catus, Bens.]. Also Ph. dorsalis, B<strong>in</strong>n., is regarded by him<br />

as dist<strong>in</strong>ct from both. Verh. z.-b. Wien, xx. pp. 854-867, pi. 13. figs. 11-14<br />

Ileynemann's list of <strong>the</strong> slugs of Europe and <strong>the</strong> adjacent countries<br />
