Chelemidifovmis, gen. nov.,Hesse, Ann. Sc. Nat. xi. pp. 275-286, pi. 1. Male<br />

unknown. Body of <strong>the</strong> female hemispherical, without articulations; no eyes;<br />

antenna? simple, nodulous, 6-articulated; head dist<strong>in</strong>ct from <strong>the</strong> trunk; three<br />

pairs of maxillipeds, <strong>the</strong> first long, term<strong>in</strong>ated by sharp po<strong>in</strong>ts ; mouth small,<br />

conical, with digitated mandibles, and surrounded by flat, falciform, po<strong>in</strong>ted<br />

lam<strong>in</strong>as; three pairs of thoracic feet, which are two-branched, small, and of<br />

unequal size, and term<strong>in</strong>ated by sharp po<strong>in</strong>ts; abdomen prom<strong>in</strong>ent, sacciform;<br />

matrical apertures very large; two oval ovisacs.—Ch. typicus, sp. n., found<br />

fixed on fragments of Arenicola pisqatovum on <strong>the</strong> [nor<strong>the</strong>rn P] coast of France.<br />

The author proposes for it a new family, with <strong>the</strong> name " Annelidicoles."<br />

ANTHEACHERIDJE.<br />

M. SARS, Kundsk. Christ. Fauna, pp. 37-41, proposes this new<br />

family on <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g characters :—Body of <strong>the</strong> females thick,<br />

divided <strong>in</strong>to dist<strong>in</strong>ct segments, which, however, are immobile;<br />

feet rudimentary. The animals live parasitically, feed<strong>in</strong>g on <strong>the</strong><br />

blood of o<strong>the</strong>r animals, for example, Act<strong>in</strong>ia?, and even fishes,<br />

but are not affixed to <strong>the</strong>m. The males are not so much smaller<br />

than <strong>the</strong> females as <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lerna?ida?. To it belong Staurosoma,<br />

"Will., An<strong>the</strong>acheres, Sars, 1856, and Philichthys, Steenst. 1861.<br />

Melii<strong>in</strong>ae-heres, gen. nov., M. Sars, /. c. pp. 11-16, pi 8. figs. 1-9. Fem<strong>in</strong>a :<br />

corpus oblongum, ventricosum, dist<strong>in</strong>cte segmentatum, antennis pedibusque<br />

destitutum. Acetabulum m<strong>in</strong>utum, breviter tubulosum, sub primo segmento<br />

(capite) situm. Sacculi duo ovigeri tenues, cyl<strong>in</strong>drici, longissimi, ovulis biserialibus.<br />

Mas m<strong>in</strong>utissimus, ovalis, ventricosus, segmentatus, antennis<br />

superioribus bene evolutis, artieulatis, setigeris, <strong>in</strong>feiioribus parvis tenuibus<br />

uniarticulatis, aduncis, pari unico maxillipedum validorum, pedibus natatoriis<br />

nullis.—M. ergasiloides, sp. n., Drobak, near Christiania, on <strong>the</strong> bristlebear<strong>in</strong>g<br />

appendices of Mel<strong>in</strong>na (Sabellidcs) cristata. This genus is <strong>in</strong>termediate<br />

between <strong>the</strong> Caligida? and Lernseida?, or, as <strong>the</strong> author says, a Lernafid<br />

with segmentated body.<br />

Xercicola orata, Keferst. This parasite, liv<strong>in</strong>g on Nereis cultrifera, Qrube,<br />

is <strong>the</strong> subject of a paper by W. C. Mack<strong>in</strong>tosh, J. Micr. Sc. (2) no. xxxvii.<br />

Jan. 1870, pp. 39-41, pi. 5. He did not know that it was described, but fortunately<br />

did not rename it. He also describes <strong>the</strong> male, before unknown; it<br />

has two pairs of feet and a caudal fork.<br />
