to one of its antennae, and suggests that <strong>the</strong> beetle had fastened itself on <strong>the</strong><br />

bee so as to be carried to <strong>the</strong> nest of <strong>the</strong> latter, <strong>in</strong> which it would deposit its<br />

eggs. SEIDLITZ (ibid. p. lxii) adduces o<strong>the</strong>r recorded <strong>in</strong>stances.<br />

BAUDI (B. E. Z. xiv. p. 56, note) records a black var. of Ci-yptophagus pilosus,<br />

Gyll, from Piedmont.<br />

Lathridius constrictus, Gyll, is recorded from Brita<strong>in</strong> by Rye (Ent. M. M.<br />

vi. p. 283), who makes some general observations on erroneous references of<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r spp. to Brita<strong>in</strong> by cont<strong>in</strong>ental authors.<br />

Lathridius nodifer, Westw, is referred by Thomson (Skand. Col. x. p. 54)<br />

to his genus Con<strong>in</strong>omus, and L. elongatus, Curt, to his Cartodere (I. c. p. 55).<br />

BETHE (S. E. Z. xxxi. p. 328) notes <strong>the</strong> extension of Lathridius nodifer,<br />

Westw, to Stett<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> 1869.<br />
