For a description of <strong>the</strong> larva and detailed account of <strong>the</strong> habits of Hcemonia,<br />

with list of water-plants frequented by its species, cf. Leprieur, <strong>in</strong> Bull. Soc.<br />

mentions great differences <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>dividuals of species hi<strong>the</strong>rto considered<br />

without doubt to be firmly established, and evidently <strong>in</strong>cl<strong>in</strong>es to <strong>the</strong> belief<br />

that all <strong>the</strong> described spp. should be reduced to one. Deyrolle (Pet. Nouv.<br />

21, p. 84) gives some particulars as to <strong>the</strong> habits of H mosellce.<br />

Sard<strong>in</strong>ia only. Kraatz (Hor. Ent. Ross. viii. p. 31) names sareptana a var.<br />

of L. lucida, Germ.<br />

WOLLASTON (Ann. N. H. ser. 4, v. p. 27, note) po<strong>in</strong>ts out <strong>the</strong> confusion as<br />

to localities cited by Fabricius for his Clythra (Cryptoceph.) ruficollis, and<br />

<strong>in</strong>cl<strong>in</strong>es to <strong>the</strong> belief that <strong>the</strong>re are two spp. under that name, one from<br />

S. Europe, <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r from St. Helena, <strong>the</strong> former of which would, <strong>in</strong> that<br />

case, require renam<strong>in</strong>g, as <strong>the</strong> orig<strong>in</strong>al description dist<strong>in</strong>ctly applies to <strong>the</strong><br />

latter. [The orig<strong>in</strong>al Banksian type is a Galeruca.]<br />
