MYRMECIDES.<br />

Aphantochilus, g. n. Cephalothorax long, broader <strong>in</strong> front than beh<strong>in</strong>d,<br />

quasi-segmented by strong constrictions, and armed with some longish po<strong>in</strong>ted<br />

projections; clypeus large, somewhat quadrate and prom<strong>in</strong>ent. Abdomen<br />

short, broad, oval, united to cephalothorax by a cyl<strong>in</strong>drical pedicle. Eyes 8,<br />

small, unequal; <strong>in</strong> 2 quadrangular groups (of 4 each), widely separate from<br />

each o<strong>the</strong>r on <strong>the</strong> highest part of <strong>the</strong> caput. Legs moderate <strong>in</strong> length and<br />

strength; relative length 4, 1, 2, 3; tarsi end with 2 curved pect<strong>in</strong>ated claws.<br />

Maxillce long, straight, strong, very wide at <strong>the</strong>ir bases, contiguous on <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

<strong>in</strong>ner edges near <strong>the</strong> extremities, which are a little enlarged, and rounded on<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir outer, and obliquely truncate on <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>in</strong>ner sides. Labium obsolete.<br />

Sternum duplex, <strong>the</strong> fore one narrow, oblong-oval, deeply emarg<strong>in</strong>ate, and<br />

end<strong>in</strong>g beh<strong>in</strong>d <strong>in</strong> a po<strong>in</strong>t between which and <strong>the</strong> coxae of <strong>the</strong> fourth pair of<br />

legs is a second, very small, rudimentary sternal plate, round, and quite<br />

Family ?<br />

BMon, g. n. Cephalothorax short, ra<strong>the</strong>r flattened above, rounded on<br />

h<strong>in</strong>der marg<strong>in</strong>, and a little compressed laterally at caput, which is broadish<br />

and truncate before. Eyes 6, ra<strong>the</strong>r large and not very unequal, four form a
