The collection comprised 115 species, which are noticed at<br />

length, occasion be<strong>in</strong>g taken to correct some errors <strong>in</strong> Leotaud's<br />

work (Zool. Rec. iii. p. 63). Synonymy receives careful attention<br />

; and one species {Fr<strong>in</strong>gillidce) receives a new name. About<br />

350 species have occurred <strong>in</strong> Tr<strong>in</strong>idad.<br />

The collection conta<strong>in</strong>ed 44 species (one of which, belong<strong>in</strong>g<br />

especially praiseworthy.<br />

This cont<strong>in</strong>ues <strong>the</strong> important work before noticed (Zool. Rec.<br />

v. p. 55, vi. p. 51). The whole number of species <strong>in</strong>cluded is<br />

515, of which 20 (belong<strong>in</strong>g to Picidce, Tanagridce, Fr<strong>in</strong>gillidce,<br />

Icteridce, Columbidce, and Cracidce) are <strong>in</strong> this part described as<br />

new. Then follows an excellent treatise on <strong>the</strong> natural divisions<br />

of Brazil as determ<strong>in</strong>ed by its ornis. Four subregions, <strong>the</strong> Columbian,<br />

Amazonian, South-Brazilian, and Chileno-Patagonian,<br />

are established, and <strong>the</strong>ir limits traced on <strong>the</strong> accompany<strong>in</strong>g<br />

map, <strong>the</strong> characteristic species of each be<strong>in</strong>g shown by tables [Cf<br />
