Polynoe, which genus he showed <strong>in</strong> his former work to be, as a rule,<br />

anangian, M. Claparede refers to a work on <strong>the</strong> histology of Hermione hystrix<br />

as nearly ready for publication. His death (<strong>the</strong> greatest loss zoology has<br />

suffered for many years) will not, it is believed, prevent its publication.<br />

2. Professor GRITBE took an opportunity last year of spend<strong>in</strong>g some<br />

weeks <strong>in</strong> exam<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> f<strong>in</strong>e collection of Annelids <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Museum of Natural<br />

History at Paris, now arranged <strong>in</strong> agreement with <strong>the</strong> work of Professor<br />

De Quatrefages (Histoire des Annexes). He revises many of that author's<br />

genera and species, po<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g out some which are synonyms, and describ<strong>in</strong>g<br />
