from its h<strong>in</strong>der extremity, term<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g with <strong>the</strong> sp<strong>in</strong>ners. Eyes 8,<br />

ra<strong>the</strong>r unequal, <strong>in</strong> two nearly straight parallel rows, spann<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> greater<br />

part of <strong>the</strong> width of <strong>the</strong> caput; clypeus flattened and prom<strong>in</strong>ent, exterior<br />

eyes on ei<strong>the</strong>r side seated on a strongish tubercular elevation. Maxillce<br />

ra<strong>the</strong>r long, strong, enlarged at <strong>the</strong>ir bases; curved and <strong>in</strong>cl<strong>in</strong>ed over <strong>the</strong><br />

labium, which is short and somewhat semicircular. Sternum ra<strong>the</strong>r long,<br />

kite-shaped, truncated at <strong>the</strong> sharp end. Legs long, slender, spar<strong>in</strong>gly furnished<br />

with hairs and slender bristles ; tarsi very short, end<strong>in</strong>g wdth 3 claws;<br />

rel. length of legs, 1, 4, 2, 3.—Moneta sp<strong>in</strong>igera, Ceylon, sp. n., 0. P. Cambridge,<br />

Cephulobaves, g. n. Cephalothorax short, nearly round at lower marg<strong>in</strong>s ;<br />

caput large, abnormally elevated and convex, rounded on all sides, and project<strong>in</strong>g<br />

greatly over falces. Eyes not very unequal, <strong>in</strong> 4 pairs ; two central .<br />

pairs form a large square, whose fore side is shortest; on ei<strong>the</strong>r side of <strong>the</strong><br />

lower part of this square are <strong>the</strong> lateral pairs; <strong>the</strong> eyes of each of <strong>the</strong>se aro<br />

contiguous, on a very slight tubercle. Legs short, moderately strong, not<br />

greatly unequal <strong>in</strong> length; relatively 1, 4, 2, .",; tarsal claws 3, very m<strong>in</strong>ute.<br />

Falces small, moderately long, straight. Maxillce moderate <strong>in</strong> length and<br />

strength, slightly <strong>in</strong>cl<strong>in</strong>ed to labium, rounded off on <strong>the</strong>ir outer and po<strong>in</strong>ted<br />

on <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>in</strong>ner extremities. Labium very short, broad, and somewhat semicircular.<br />

Abdomen oval, cyl<strong>in</strong>drical; its upper extremities beh<strong>in</strong>d project<strong>in</strong>g<br />
