Chloronerpes simplex and Melanerpes chrysauchen are new species from Veragua:
the former resembling C. aurulemtus, but with a differently coloured
head; the latter, like M.fiavifrons, but having the lores and nape yellow,

Melanerpes pulcher is a new species from Bogota, allied to M. chrysauchen
(ut infra), but with transverse bands from the breast to the vent. P. L.

Micropternus holroydi is a new species from Hainan, nearly allied to M.
fokiensis; but the wings and tail are shorter, and the head and neck different.
