Godt.; Callasune even<strong>in</strong>a, Wallengr.; C. agoge, Wallengr.; CallidryasfioreUa,<br />

Fabr.; and Colias electra, L<strong>in</strong>n. He remarks that Pontia glauconome, Klug,<br />

is perhaps a small var. of Pieris hellica; Pontia tritogenia, Klug,=P«er. eriphia,<br />

Godt.; Callidryas rhadia, Boisd.,=<strong>the</strong> yellow form of C.fiorella, §. Bowker<br />

has observed a migrat<strong>in</strong>g host of <strong>the</strong> latter- species <strong>in</strong> Basuto-land; and<br />

Trimen remarks on <strong>the</strong> habit of <strong>the</strong> Picridee to proceed straight on <strong>in</strong> one<br />

direction. Trimen also figures Callosune even<strong>in</strong>a, Wallengr. (1. c. pi. 6. f. 11).<br />

KIRBY remarks (Tr. E. Soc. 1870, pp. 141, 142) that <strong>the</strong>re is some doubt<br />

whe<strong>the</strong>r P. hyale, L<strong>in</strong>n., may not= Colias edusa, Fabr.; P. coronea, Crani.,=<br />

P. java, Sparrm.; and P. gliciria, Cram.,=P. canidia, Sparrm.<br />

Leptalis. Hewitson (Exot. Butt. 73, pis. 5-7) figures <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g known<br />

species:—L. lele.v, L. zathoe, var. § (or L. lelex, 5 ?)> L- othoe, L. lysis, L.<br />

lyydamis, L. carihesis, L. deione, L. leonora, L. lavunda (lar<strong>in</strong>da <strong>in</strong> plate), L.<br />

Globiceps paradoxa, Feld. Plotz describes and figures this species as<br />

Pseudopontia calabarica. S. E. Z. 1870, pp. 348, 349, pi. 3. f. 1 a-f. Kirby<br />

<strong>in</strong>quires (Pet. Nouv. no. 15) whe<strong>the</strong>r G. paradoxa may not=Deloneura immaculata,<br />

Trim.; but Hewitson replies (I. c. no. 15 bis) that it is a Heterocerous<br />

<strong>in</strong>sect, and (I. c. no. 23) po<strong>in</strong>ts out its identity with Pseudopontia. B.<br />

Felder figures it (/. e. no. 24) imder <strong>the</strong> new generic name of Gonophlebia, and<br />

remarks on its aff<strong>in</strong>ities. He still considers it to belong to <strong>the</strong> Pieridce.<br />

He suggests that its true place is near, if not next to, Doritis (Parnassius).<br />

Colias evnestius, Lap. Kirby states (Pet. Nouv. no. 19), on Butler's authority,<br />

that this species=P. helcita, Fabr., <strong>the</strong> Senegal variety of Pievis creona,<br />

Cram.<br />

Pieris daplidice. Bienert describes a variety from Persia as var. persiea.<br />

Pierisprotodice. Figured <strong>in</strong> all its stages <strong>in</strong> Amer. Ent. ii. pp. 60-77,,<br />

Pieris krueperi. Staud<strong>in</strong>ger remarks on <strong>the</strong> variations of <strong>the</strong> broods of<br />

this species, and calls <strong>the</strong> first brood var. vernalis. He th<strong>in</strong>ks that P. krueperi<br />

may very probably be a local race of P. gliciria, but that it would be very<br />

unwise to unite <strong>the</strong>m under one name. Ilor. Ent. Ross. vii. pp. 33, 34.<br />

Pieris rupee. L'Abbe" Provancher has published a popular account of this<br />

species and its <strong>in</strong>troduction <strong>in</strong>to Canada. Nat. Can. ii. pp. 13-18 (Rec. Am.<br />
