those European species whose eastern range term<strong>in</strong>ates at <strong>the</strong><br />

Ural, and designat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Siberian species which extend to those<br />

mounta<strong>in</strong>s and <strong>the</strong>ir western slopes. As a curious circumstance,<br />

we may remark that he speaks of Parus pendul<strong>in</strong>us (p. 193) as<br />

occurr<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>- forest-region toge<strong>the</strong>r with Parus cyanus.<br />

Among <strong>the</strong> species enumerated as occurr<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Central Ural<br />

(p. 195) are many of great rarity so far westward, as, for <strong>in</strong>stance,<br />

Lusciola calliope, Sylvia cyanura, and Regulus proregulus. Space<br />

will not permit us to give a more extensive notice of this valuable<br />

contribution to <strong>the</strong> avifauna of <strong>the</strong> eastern frontier of Europe,<br />

and we look forward with <strong>in</strong>terest to its cont<strong>in</strong>uation.<br />
