(Kiist. nee Fald.) to gibbithorax, H. punctipennis (Lee nee Luc.) to<br />

punctatus, Hedyphanes helopioides (Luc. nee Fald.) to helop<strong>in</strong>us : Gemm<strong>in</strong>ger,<br />

Helops <strong>in</strong>clusus, Walk, from description = ei<strong>the</strong>r lautus or pernitens,<br />

Helops. KRAATZ (B. E. Z. xiv. Beih. p. 136) briefly characterizes <strong>the</strong> 3<br />

pubescent species of this genus found <strong>in</strong> Spa<strong>in</strong> and Algiers. The same author<br />

(1. c. p. 139, note) enumerates 16 spp. of Helops found <strong>in</strong> South Spa<strong>in</strong>, and<br />

already recorded.<br />

KRAATZ (I. c. p. 142, note) remarks upon <strong>the</strong> error <strong>in</strong> de Marseul's Cat. ed.<br />

2, <strong>in</strong> attribut<strong>in</strong>g Nephodes metallescens, Kiist, as a var. to N. villiger, Rosenh,<br />

<strong>the</strong> latter hav<strong>in</strong>g been (<strong>in</strong>Kraatz's op<strong>in</strong>ion, wrongly) described as probably a<br />

var. of <strong>the</strong> former; he also notes <strong>the</strong> still greater error <strong>in</strong> De Mars. Cat,<br />

1866, wherefrom metallescens is entirely omitted.<br />

The type given by Lacordaire (carbonarius, Kl.) for <strong>the</strong> genus Hoplonyx<br />

(Oplocheirus, Dj.) does not accord with <strong>the</strong> generic characters given: Schaufuss,<br />

Nunq. Otios. p. 62.<br />

Ileliophygus sulcatus (Sol. nee Guer.) is changed to sulcatulus: Gemm<strong>in</strong>ger,<br />

C. H. vi. p. 123.<br />

Pen<strong>the</strong> funerea, Ne-wm.,=pimeUa (F.), accord<strong>in</strong>g to Suffrian (S. E. Z. xxxi.<br />

p. 298), who enters fully upon <strong>the</strong> characters &c. of this sp., and of P. obliquata<br />

CF.).<br />

Parablops, g. n, v. Rottenberg, B. E. Z. xiv. p. 254, t. ii. f. 7 a-c. Allied<br />

to Nephodes, Rosh, <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> structure of legs and parts of <strong>the</strong> mouth, but separable<br />

from all its allies by its flatter build, posteriorly dilated elytra, and<br />
