SURREY COATS OF ARMS REID of Ewell Grove in Ewell. Also of Greystone Park, Dumfriesshire. Baronet, Nov 10,1823. Extinct 1903. Arms: Per saltire Erminois and Ermine an eagle displayed Sable. * Crest: A castle Argent surmounted by two spears saltireways Proper points upwards. Motto: Firm. (Gen. Arm.) * BP58 blazons the eagle as charged on the breast with an inescutcheon Or. REID Nevile Reid of Parkhill, Esher, (b.1873), son of Nevile Reid of Shandwick, Ross and Cromarty, (1839-1913). Arms: Quarterly, 1 and 4, Argent an eagle displayed Sable beaked and membered Gules on the breast an escutcheon of the first charged with a bordure engrailed of the third; 2 and 3, Gules three lions rampant Argent a bordure engrailed per pale Or and Azure. The above named Ralph Ricardo's twin brother Benjamin, (1787-1841), was great-grandfather of Major Louis Ferdinand Ricardo, 8 th Hussars, of Waterside, Lingfield, (d.1951). (MB iii 377) RICE Andrew Gurney Talbot Rice of 60 Castelnau, Barnes, (b.1930) elder son of Mervyn Gurney Talbot Rice, FCA, of 38 Lowndes Square, London, and descended from Francis William, 5 th Baron Dynevor. Arms: Quarterly, 1 and 4, Argent a chevron between three ravens Sable (Rice or Rhys); 2, Gules a lion rampant within a bordure engrailed Or (Talbot); 3, Argent two chevronels between three trefoils slipped Vert (Cardonel). (BP105) RICH In 1771 the trustees of Sir Robert Rich, 4 th Bart., (d.1768), bought Waverley for the benefit of his son Sir Robert Rich, 5 th Bart., (d.1785). His daughter, Mary Frances married, 1783, the Rev. Charles Bostock who changed his name to Rich and was created Baronet 1791; they sold Waverley, 1792.
