VILLIERS Baroness Nonsuch. Barbara Villiers, (c.1641-1709), daughter and heir <strong>of</strong> William Villiers, 2 nd Viscount Grandison,<br />
and mistress <strong>of</strong> King Charles II, was created Baroness Nonsuch, Countess <strong>of</strong> Southampton, and Duchess <strong>of</strong> Cleveland, 1670.<br />

VILLIERS Commander George Dumba Villiers, RN, <strong>of</strong> Vane House, Warren Rise, New Malden, was son <strong>of</strong> Henry Montagu Hyde<br />
Villiers, MVO, <strong>of</strong> the Consular Service, (1863-1948), and descended from the Hon. Thomas Villiers, 1 st Earl <strong>of</strong> Clarendon, (d.1786). Of the<br />
same family, James Michael Hyde Villiers <strong>of</strong> Deepcut Place, Camberley, was 2 nd son <strong>of</strong> Captain Eric Hyde Villiers, DSO, <strong>of</strong> Ormeley Lodge,<br />
Ham Common, (1881-1964), and descended from George William, 4 th Earl <strong>of</strong> Clarendon, (1800-70).<br />

Since entering the peerage the family have dropped their ancient crest and motto, and now use:<br />

VINE Sir John Richard Somers Vine, CMG, FRGS, FSS, <strong>of</strong> Vernon House, Lordship Lane, Dulwich, (1847-1929), was Hon.<br />
Secretary <strong>of</strong> the National Leprosy Fund and one <strong>of</strong> HM's Lieutenants for the City <strong>of</strong> London. He was knighted 1886.<br />
