SURREY COATS OF ARMS<br />
LAMBERT <strong>of</strong> Perrotts in Banstead, descended from Roger Lambert, (d.1558), 2 nd son <strong>of</strong> John Lambert, (d.1533), <strong>of</strong> Woodmansterne and<br />
Banstead.<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Gules three sexfoils (blasoned as narcissuses) Argent, a canton Or.<br />
Crest: On a mound * vert a centaur passant reguardant, the human part Proper, the hind part Ermine, girt round the waist with a<br />
laurel wreath Vert, and shooting a bow and arrow Gules.<br />
The canton was added, and the crest granted in 1737 to Sir Daniel Lambert <strong>of</strong> Perrotts, Lord Mayor <strong>of</strong> London in 1741. (SAC xvi 1)<br />

Curtis Walter Lampson, CBE, BA (Oxon), <strong>of</strong> Willinghurst, Shamley Green, (1875-1952) and Major Adam Cathcart Lampson, Queens Own<br />
Cameron Highlanders <strong>of</strong> The Red House, Court Hill Chipstead, (1882-1966), were sons <strong>of</strong> Norman George Lampson, DL, JP, (1850-94), and<br />
grandsons <strong>of</strong> Sir Curtis Miranda Lampson, 1 st Bart., (1806-85).<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Per saltire Argent and Gules two griffins' heads erased in fess and as many escarbuncles in pale counterchanged.<br />
Crest: A griffin's head erased Gules charged with an escarbuncle Argent between two wings paly <strong>of</strong> four Argent and Gules.<br />

LANCASTER Sir William John Lancaster, JP, <strong>of</strong> South Lynn, Putney Hill, (1841-1929), was a Freeman <strong>of</strong> King's Lynn, {Norfolk}.<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Or two bars Sable on a pale engrailed Ermine four cinquefoils <strong>of</strong> the second.<br />
Crest: Two cinquefoils fesswise that on the dexter Sable that on the sinister Or surmounted by a third cinquefoil per pale <strong>of</strong> the last<br />
and first.<br />

LANCASTER The Rev. Thomas Lancaster (1750-1823), eldest son <strong>of</strong> the Rev. Thomas Lancaster, Vicar <strong>of</strong> Alston, Cumberland, (see<br />
CFH), was Lecturer at the New Chapel, Sunderland, 1780, and Curate <strong>of</strong> Trimdon, 1780-83. He was later Curate <strong>of</strong> Fulham, and founded a<br />
school at Wimbledon, 1789. He was Perpetual Curate <strong>of</strong> Merton, 1801-3. (EXH)<br />
