SINCLAIR Earl <strong>of</strong> Caithness. Sir Malcolm Ian Sinclair, 20 th Earl <strong>of</strong> Caithness, <strong>of</strong> Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey, succeeded his<br />
father the 19 th Earl on the latter's death, 1965.<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Quarterly, 1, Azure a lymphad at anchor Or flagged Gules sails furled Argent oars erect in saltire within a double tressure<br />
flory counterflory <strong>of</strong> the second (the Earldom <strong>of</strong> Orkney); 2 and 3, Or a lion rampant Gules armed and langued Azure; 4, Azure a three-masted<br />
ship Or flagged Gules under sail Argent (the Earldom <strong>of</strong> Caithness); over all a cross engrailed and counterchanged Argent and Sable (Sinclair).<br />
Crest: A cock Proper armed and beaked Or.<br />

SINCLAIR Viscount Thurso. Major Sir Archibald Henry Macdonald Sinclair, 4 th Bart., 1 st Viscount Thurso, <strong>of</strong> Ulbster, Caithness,<br />
KT, PC, CMG, JP, (1890-1970), was at one time <strong>of</strong> Robin Hood Farm, Kingston Vale.<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Quarterly, 1, Azure a ship at anchor sails furled oars erect in saltire Or flagged Gules a double tressure counterflowered <strong>of</strong><br />
the last (Orkney); 2 and 3, Or a lion rampant Gules armed and langued Azure (Spar); 4, Azure a ship under sail Or sails Argent flagged Gules<br />
(Caithness); over all dividing the quarters a cross engrailed quarterly Argent and Sable (Sinclair); all within a bordure quarterly Or and Gules the<br />
last charged with three stars <strong>of</strong> the first.<br />

SKINNER <strong>of</strong> Reigate. Extinct May 19, 1584. Descended from John Skinner, 2 nd son <strong>of</strong> John Skinner <strong>of</strong> Reigate and<br />
brother <strong>of</strong> Richard Skinner, (d.1492), <strong>of</strong> Peckham.<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Gules three crossbows Argent handles Or.<br />
Crest: A buck lodged and reguardant Proper.<br />
From glass in Reigate Church (SV1623). Latterly they seem to have used also Sable on a chevron wavy Argent between three griffin heads<br />

SKINNER Samuel Skinner <strong>of</strong> Shirley Park, a judge <strong>of</strong> circuit at Chittoor, in the province <strong>of</strong> Madras, (b.1774), 3 rd son <strong>of</strong> Joseph Skinner,<br />
<strong>of</strong> London, and <strong>of</strong> Wanstead, Essex, and descended from Robert Skinner, DD, (d.1670), Bishop <strong>of</strong> Bristol, 1637-41, <strong>of</strong> Oxford, 1641-63, and <strong>of</strong><br />
Worcester, 1663-70.<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Sable a chevron Or between three griffins' heads erased Argent.<br />
Crest: A griffin's head erased Argent in the mouth a hand couped Gules. (BLG1846; BBE)<br />
SKINNER Sir Thomas Hewitt Skinner, 2 nd Bart., <strong>of</strong> Pont Street, Chelsea, (1875-1968), was <strong>of</strong> Falconhirst, Wimbledon, and Gortmore,<br />
Old Green Lane, Camberley. His brother Charles Henry Skinner, (1886-1966), was at one time <strong>of</strong> Red Stacks, West Byfleet, and his grandson Sir<br />
Thomas Keith Hewitt Skinner, 4 th Bart., (b.1927), is <strong>of</strong> Long Acre, West Clandon .<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Ermine on a bend Or between in chief a port between two towers Proper flying therefrom to the sinister two pennons Gules<br />
and in base an ancient ship <strong>of</strong> the second three maple leaves slipped Vert.<br />
Crest: A griffin's head couped Vert the neck Or between two dragons wings Gules.<br />
