TRAPPES Robert Trappes <strong>of</strong> London and Bermondsey, goldsmith, (c.1478-1560), had issue, amongst others, besides a 6 th son Francis,<br />

<strong>of</strong> whom below, a 5 th son Robert Trappes <strong>of</strong> London and Bermondsey, mercer, (d.1576), who had issue, amongst others, a 2 nd son Rowland<br />

Trappes <strong>of</strong> London and Bermondsey, mercer, (dsp 1616), High Sheriff <strong>of</strong> <strong>Surrey</strong> and Sussex, 1615-16, and a 3 rd son Roger Trappes <strong>of</strong><br />

Bermondsey and Cheam, (1561-1616), father <strong>of</strong> Roger Trappes <strong>of</strong> Bermondsey and Cheam, (d.1623), whose son Edward Trappes <strong>of</strong><br />

Bermondsey and Reigate, (1621-58), was father <strong>of</strong> Edward Trappes <strong>of</strong> Reigate, (1643-76), and Thomas Trappes <strong>of</strong> Bermondsey, (1646-1710).<br />

The above named Francis Trappes <strong>of</strong> London, goldsmith, (c.1530-74), had a 2 nd son Robert Trappes <strong>of</strong> Brockham. (BLG18)<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Quarterly, 1 and 4, Argent three caltraps Sable; 2 and 3, Azure a chevron between three crosses pattée Or.<br />

Crest: A man's head couped at the shoulders attired Gules garnished Or on the head a steel helmet all Proper surmounted by a<br />

plume <strong>of</strong> three feathers Argent. (BGA)<br />

TRAVERS <strong>of</strong> Waltham Place in Thorpe.<br />

St. Columb Major, Cornwall, son <strong>of</strong> the Rev. Samuel Travers, (d.1648), Vicar <strong>of</strong> Thorverton, Devon, son <strong>of</strong> the Rev. John Travers, Rector <strong>of</strong><br />

Faringdon, Devon, which John was the brother <strong>of</strong> the celebrated Puritan, Walter Travers. (HG iv 110)<br />

son <strong>of</strong> the Rev. Robert Tredcr<strong>of</strong>t, MA, Prebendary <strong>of</strong> Chichester, Rural Dean, Rector <strong>of</strong> Tangmere and West Itchenor and Vicar <strong>of</strong> Fittleworth,<br />

(1791-1846), was father <strong>of</strong> Major John Lennox Tredcr<strong>of</strong>t <strong>of</strong> Gerrans, Portscatho, Cornwall, (b.1889). (BLG15)<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Gules semé-de-lys Or three mullets pierced in chevron <strong>of</strong> the second between as many battle axes Argent.<br />

Crest: In front <strong>of</strong> a lion's gamb per fess Or and Gules grasping a battle axe fesswise a mullet pierced between two fleurs-de-lys all<br />

as in the arms.<br />
