SURREY COATS OF ARMS<br />
TRISTRAM Captain Uvedale Barrington Tristram, 17 th Lancers, <strong>of</strong> Lea House, Oxfordshire, and Foxley Hall, Herefordshire, (1826-98),<br />
had issue, amongst others, a 2 nd son Uvedale Barrington Tristram <strong>of</strong> 3 Fasset Road, Surbiton, Chief Cashier <strong>of</strong> the Imperial Ottoman Bank,<br />
Constantinople, (1859-1927), and a 3 rd son Charles Francis Tristram, AMICE, railway engineer, traveller and explorer, (1865-1933), who was<br />
father <strong>of</strong> Cecil Uvedale Tristram <strong>of</strong> 9 Malden Park, New Malden, and <strong>of</strong> the Colonial Administrative Service, Nigeria, (b.1900).<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Quarterly, 1 and 4, Argent three torteaux a chief Gules charged with a label <strong>of</strong> three points Azure (Tristram); 2 and 3, Sable<br />
three pheons Argent a canton <strong>of</strong> the last (Nicholls).<br />

Rev. Robert Tritton, (1792-1877), Rector <strong>of</strong> Morden, whose grandson Arthur Henry Tritton, JP, <strong>of</strong> The Priory, Leatherhead, (1855-1936),<br />
<strong>County</strong> <strong>Council</strong>lor, <strong>Surrey</strong>, was father <strong>of</strong> Nigel Charles Tritton <strong>of</strong> Wildcr<strong>of</strong>t, Betchworth, (b.1891), High Sheriff <strong>of</strong> <strong>Surrey</strong>, 1958. From the Rev.<br />
Robert Tritton descended also Julian Seymour Tritton, MICE, MIMechE, <strong>of</strong> St. Aubyn's, Oakshade Road, Oxshott, consulting engineer,<br />
(b.1889). The above mentioned Henry Tritton <strong>of</strong> 54 Lombard Street, London, also <strong>of</strong> Battersea, Beddington and Lyons Hall, Essex, (1790-1838),<br />
was father <strong>of</strong> Joseph Tritton <strong>of</strong> 54 Lombard Street, also <strong>of</strong> Norwood and Lyons Hall, (1819-87), whose 2 nd son Sir Charles Ernest Tritton, 1 st<br />
Bart., <strong>of</strong> Bloomfield, Lambeth, (1845-1918), was created Baronet, 1905. His son Sir Alfred Ernest Tritton, 2 nd Bart., BA, LL.B (Cantab), (1873-<br />
1939), was <strong>of</strong> Upper Gatton Park, Reigate, and was father <strong>of</strong> the present holder <strong>of</strong> the title, Sir Ge<strong>of</strong>frey Ernest Tritton, 3 rd Bart., CBE, DL, BA<br />

surname and arms <strong>of</strong> La Trobe. He was eldest son <strong>of</strong> John Bateman <strong>of</strong> Wyke, later <strong>of</strong> Ockbrook, Derbyshire, (1772-1851), by his wife Mary<br />
Agnes, daughter <strong>of</strong> the Rev. Benjamin La Trobe, * and was father <strong>of</strong> the Rev. William Fairbairn La Trobe-Bateman, MA, <strong>of</strong> Moor Park,<br />
(b.1845), Vicar <strong>of</strong> Upper Norwood and Rector <strong>of</strong> Ascot, Berkshire. (BLG13)<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Quarterly, 1 and 4, Azure on a fess with cotises engrailed between three escallops Or as many crescents each surmounted by<br />
a mullet Gules (Bateman); 2 and 3, Argent on a fess Azure a fleur-de-lys between two escallops Or (La Trobe).<br />

* The family <strong>of</strong> La Trobe is <strong>of</strong> the old French noblesse, originally from Languedoc, and settled at Villemur, near Montauban.<br />
At the Revocation <strong>of</strong> the Edict <strong>of</strong> Nantes in 1685 the La Trobes fled to Holland and thence to Ireland. (BGA)<br />
TROLLOPE The Very Rev. George Henry Annesley Trollope, CSSR, (1879-1933), Rector <strong>of</strong> St. Mary's Clapham, was elder son <strong>of</strong><br />
Charles William Annesley Trollope, ISO, (1850-1935), Principal Clerk, Exchequer and Audit Department, and was descended from Sir Thomas<br />
Trollope, 3 rd Bart., (d.1729).<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Vert three stags courant Argent attired Or within a bordure <strong>of</strong> the second.<br />
Crest: On a mount Vert a stag courant Argent attired Or holding in the mouth an oak-leaf Proper.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Quarterly, 1 and 4, Argent a crescent Gules, on a chief Azure three mullets pierced <strong>of</strong> the field; 2 and 3, Gules a lion rampant<br />
royally crowned Argent and charged on the shoulder with a crescent <strong>of</strong> the field: all within a bordure Ermine.<br />

As borne by John Trotter <strong>of</strong> Horton, son <strong>of</strong> James Trotter <strong>of</strong> Horton, Sheriff <strong>of</strong> <strong>Surrey</strong>, 1798, son <strong>of</strong> John Trotter, (d.1790), <strong>of</strong> Soho Square,<br />
{London}.<br />
TROTTER <strong>of</strong> Horton (II). James Trotter <strong>of</strong> Horton Manor, Epsom, and <strong>of</strong> Kettleshiel, Scotland, (d.1833), had issue, amongst<br />
others, a son John Trotter <strong>of</strong> Horton and Kettleshiel, (dsp 1856), see preceding entry, and a daughter Anne, (d.1812), who married, 1808, George<br />
Welbank. Their daughter, Mary Elizabeth, (d.1885), married, 1834, William Brown, JP, (1800-87), who with his wife, assumed the name and<br />
arms <strong>of</strong> Trotter on succeeding to Horton, and was himself succeeded by William Sampson Trotter <strong>of</strong> Horton Manor, (b.1839), father <strong>of</strong> John<br />
Frederick Arthur Trotter, (b.1887).<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Quarterly, 1 and 4, Argent a crescent Gules on a chief indented Azure three mullets pierced <strong>of</strong> the field a canton Argent for<br />
distinction (Trotter); 2 and 3, Azure a chevron chequy Argent and Sable between three fleurs-de-lys <strong>of</strong> the second (Brown).<br />
Crests: 1, A horse trotting Argent (Trotter) *; 2, A lion rampant Gules holding in his dexter forepaw a fleur-de-lys Argent (Brown).<br />

TROWER Hutches Trower, JP, <strong>of</strong> Unsted Wood, Goldaming, (b.1777), 7 th son <strong>of</strong> Thomas Trower <strong>of</strong> Clapton, Hackney, Middlesex,<br />
(1736-93), was High Sheriff <strong>of</strong> <strong>Surrey</strong>, 1820.<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Quarterly, Argent and Sable a tilting spear in bend Proper between three lions passant guardant counterchanged on the field.<br />
Crest: A lion passant guardant per pale Argent and Sable charged with a roundle counterchanged and supporting with the dexter<br />
