Pollock, 1 st Viscount Hanworth, 1 st Baron Hanworth <strong>of</strong> Hanworth, Middlesex, 1 st Bart., PC, KBE, JP, MA (Cantab), (1861-1936), Master <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Rolls, 1923-35, who was Recorder <strong>of</strong> Kingston-upon-Thames, 1911-23. He was succeeded by his grandson Lieutenant-Colonel Sir David<br />
Bertram Pollock, 2 nd Viscount Hanworth, BA (Cantab), C.Eng, MIMech.E, FIEE, FIQA, FRPS, barrister-at-law, (b.1916), who was formerly <strong>of</strong><br />
Folly Hill, Ewhurst, and is now, (1980), <strong>of</strong> Quoin Cottage, Shamley Green.<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Azure three fleurs-de-lys within a bordure engrailed Or on a chief Ermine two portcullises <strong>of</strong> the second.<br />
Crest: A boar passant quarterly Or and Vert pierced through the sinister shoulder with an arrow Proper.<br />
Supporters: On either side a bear Or muzzled collared and chained Sable.<br />

PONSONBY Baron Sysonby. Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Frederick Edward Grey Ponsonby, PC, GCB, GCVO, (1867-1935), 2 nd<br />
son <strong>of</strong> General Sir Henry Frederick Ponsonby, PC, GCB, (1825-95), and descended from Frederick, 3 rd Earl <strong>of</strong> Bessborough, (1758-1844), was<br />
created Baron Sysonby <strong>of</strong> Wonersh, 1935. His son Edward Gaspard, 2 nd Baron Sysonby, DSO, (1903-56), was <strong>of</strong> Great Tangley Manor,<br />
Guildford; the present holder <strong>of</strong> the title is his son, the 3 rd Baron Sysonby.<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Gules a chevron between three combs Argent.<br />
Crest: Out <strong>of</strong> a ducal coronet Azure three arrows one in pale and two in saltire points downwards entwined by a snake Proper.<br />
Supporters: On either side a lion guardant crowned with a Saxon crown Or and charged on the shoulder with a key wards downwards and<br />

PONTIFEX William Pontifex <strong>of</strong> Grove Lodge, Mitcham, later <strong>of</strong> Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, and <strong>of</strong> London, merchant, (1766-1851), had<br />
issue, a 2 nd son William Pontifex <strong>of</strong> Chichester, {Sussex} and London, (1793-1870), who was father <strong>of</strong>, amongst others, William Pontifex <strong>of</strong><br />
Denbighs, Haslemere, and <strong>of</strong> Chilworth Manor.<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Azure in base barry <strong>of</strong> four Argent and <strong>of</strong> the first a bridge <strong>of</strong> three arches embattled Proper and a chief <strong>of</strong> the second thereon<br />
two pallets between as many mullets <strong>of</strong> the field.<br />
Crest: A tower Proper charged with a cross moline Azure surmounted by a rainbow also Proper.<br />
Motto: In hoc signo vinces. (BFR; FD7)<br />
