As borne (SV1623) by Thomas Windsor <strong>of</strong> Thames Ditton, William Windsor <strong>of</strong> Upton, Buckinghamshire, and George Windsor <strong>of</strong> Bentley, sons<br />

<strong>of</strong> Peter Windsor <strong>of</strong> Thames Ditton, son <strong>of</strong> Thomas Windsor <strong>of</strong> Bentley, 3 rd son <strong>of</strong> Andrew Windsor, 1 st Baron Windsor.<br />

WINDSOR Lord Windsor. Andrew, Lord Windsor, (1467-1544), held the manor <strong>of</strong> Headley at his death; his grandson Edward, Lord<br />

WINDSOR Earl <strong>of</strong> Plymouth. Thomas Baron Windsor, 1 st Earl <strong>of</strong> Plymouth, (d.1687, aged c.60), is said to have bought the reputed<br />

manor <strong>of</strong> Flanchford, 1676. His younger son Thomas, Viscount Windsor <strong>of</strong> Blackcastle, (1669-1738), sold it 1720.<br />

WINDSOR Duke <strong>of</strong> Connaught and Streathern. Field-Marshal H R H Arthur William Patrick Albert, (after 1917) Windsor, KG, PC,<br />

KT, KP, GCSI, GCMG, GCIE, GCVO, KCB, Prince <strong>of</strong> Great Britain and Ireland, Duke <strong>of</strong> Saxony, Prince <strong>of</strong> Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, <strong>of</strong> Bagshot<br />

Park, (1850-1942), 3 rd son <strong>of</strong> Queen Victoria, was created Earl <strong>of</strong> Sussex and Duke <strong>of</strong> Connaught and Strathearn, 1874. The titles became extinct<br />

on the death, unmarried on active service, 1943, <strong>of</strong> his grandson, the 2 nd Duke.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: The Royal <strong>Arms</strong> differenced by a label <strong>of</strong> three points Argent the centre point charged with a cross <strong>of</strong> St. George and each <strong>of</strong><br />

the other points with a fleur-de-lys Azure; in the centre <strong>of</strong> the Royal <strong>Arms</strong> an escutcheon <strong>of</strong> arms <strong>of</strong> Saxony, viz. Barry <strong>of</strong> ten Or and Sable a<br />

crown <strong>of</strong> rue in bend Vert.<br />

Crest: On a coronet composed <strong>of</strong> crosses pattée and fleurs-de-lys a lion statant guardant Or crowned with a like coronet and<br />

differenced with a label <strong>of</strong> three points Argent charged as in the arms.<br />

Supporters: The Royal Supporters differenced with the like coronet and label. (NEP, DPB)<br />

WINGFIELD Maurice Edward Wingfield, CMG, MA (Cantab), <strong>of</strong> Ashtead House, Epsom, (b.1869), 2 nd son <strong>of</strong> John Harry Lee Wingfield,<br />

JP, <strong>of</strong> Tickencote, {Rutland}, (1821-80), was Acting Treasurer, Collector <strong>of</strong> Customs and Postmaster <strong>of</strong> the Falkland Islands, 1899-1900, Private<br />

Secretary to the Governor <strong>of</strong> Queensland, 1902, and to the Governor-General <strong>of</strong> Australia, 1903-4, and Acting Governor <strong>of</strong> the Gambia, 1911.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Argent on a bend Gules cotised Sable three pairs <strong>of</strong> wings conjoined <strong>of</strong> the field.<br />

Crest: A cap per pale Ermines and Argent charged with a fess Gules between two wings expanded the dexter <strong>of</strong> the second the<br />

sinister <strong>of</strong> the first.<br />

WINLAW The Rev. William Winlaw, BD (Cantab), Rector <strong>of</strong> Morden, married Jane, daughter and heir <strong>of</strong> Preston Kelsall <strong>of</strong> Lytham,<br />

Lancashire, and had an elder son the Rev. George Preston Kelsall Winlaw, MA (Cantab), <strong>of</strong> the Rectory, Morden, later Rector <strong>of</strong> Telscombe<br />

with Piddinghoe, Sussex, (b.1873).<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Argent fretty Sable two salmon naiant Proper on a chief arched Gules as many crosses pattée Or.<br />

Crest: Upon a hillock Vert three javelins one in pale and two in saltire Proper suspended therefrom by a ribbon Or an escutcheon<br />
