RICHARDS The Rev. Thomas Watkin Richards, Rector <strong>of</strong> Puttenham, (1793-1859), was 4 th son <strong>of</strong> Sir Richard Richards, MA (Oxon),<br />

Lord Chief Baron <strong>of</strong> the Exchequer, (1752-1823), by his wife Catherine, (b.1758), daughter and heir <strong>of</strong> Robert Vaughan Humphreys, <strong>of</strong><br />

Caerynwch, Merionethshire.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Quarterly, 1, Argent a cross patonce engrailed Sable between four Cornish choughs Proper; 2, Ermine on a saltire Gules an<br />

escallop Argent; 3, Or a lion rampant Gules; 4, Vert three eagles displayed in fess Ermine; 5, Sable gutté d'eau a canton Ermine.<br />

Crest: A naked dexter arm the hand holding a scimitar all Proper.<br />

RICHARDS Admiral Sir George Henry Richards, KCB, FRS, <strong>of</strong> Fetcham, Leatherhead, (1820-96), was Naval ADC to Queen Victoria.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Azure a fess lozengy Argent and Sable in chief two anchors Or.<br />

Crest: In front <strong>of</strong> a fountain a lion passant Argent supporting with the dexter foreleg a flagstaff in bend sinister Proper therefrom a<br />

flag Azure charged with an anchor as in the arms.<br />

charged with a spear head <strong>of</strong> the field.<br />

chief <strong>of</strong> the second three lions' heads erased Ermines.<br />

RICHARDSON Sir Philip Wigham Richardson, 1 st Bart., OBE, VD, JP, MA (Cantab), <strong>of</strong> Aldenholme, Weybridge, (1865-1953), MP for<br />

Chertsey, 1922-31, was created Baronet, 1929, and was succeeded by his elder son Sir William Wigham Richardson, 2 nd Bart., MBE, (1893-<br />

1973). He died sp and was succeeded by his brother Sir George Wigham Richardson, 3 rd Bart., who died spm, 1981, when the title expired.<br />
