SWAINSON Charles John Graind'Orge Swainson <strong>of</strong> 28 Grange Road, Barnes, (b.1884), elder son <strong>of</strong> Christopher Grainde'Orge Swainson,<br />

(1845-98), and grandson <strong>of</strong> the Rev. John Swainson, MA (Oxon), Rector <strong>of</strong> Epperstone, Nottinghamshire, 1807-53.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Gules a boar's head couped Argent transfixed by a sword in bend point downwards Proper between two mullets <strong>of</strong> six points<br />

in pale <strong>of</strong> the second.<br />

Crest: A stag's head couped Argent charged with a mullet <strong>of</strong> eight points Gules and in the mouth two ears <strong>of</strong> barley Or.<br />

Gallais Sykes, 3 rd Bart., (b.1928), is <strong>of</strong> 120 Hartscr<strong>of</strong>t, Linton Glade, Croydon.<br />

Archbishop <strong>of</strong> Tuam, (1659-1741), who was ancestor also <strong>of</strong> Anthony Peter Synge <strong>of</strong> 5 Chichester Close, Witley, (b.1941), 2 nd son <strong>of</strong> Peter<br />

Macdonnell Synge, <strong>of</strong> the Colonial Service, Nigeria, (b.1905).<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Quarterly, 1 and 4, Azure three millstones Proper; 2 and 3, Argent an eagle displayed with two heads Sable beaked and<br />

legged Gules.<br />

Crest: Out <strong>of</strong> a ducal coronet an eagle's claw all Proper.<br />

Synnott, MA (Cantab), <strong>of</strong> 34 Archway Street, Barnes, (b.1945), 3 rd son <strong>of</strong> Commander Jasper Nicholas Netterville Synnott, DSC, RN, (b.1908).<br />
