YOUNG <strong>of</strong> Lambeth.<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Ermine on a bend between two eagles displayed Sable three griffin heads erased Argent.<br />
Crest: From water Proper an anchor erect Sable, stock and ring Or, the stem entwined with a serpent also Proper.<br />
As granted to .... Young <strong>of</strong> Lambeth, (d.1826).<br />
YOUNG Vyvian Edward Young <strong>of</strong> Shaftesbury House, Woking, (b.1866), younger son <strong>of</strong> Francis Young <strong>of</strong> 53 Ennismore Gardens,<br />
London, barrister-at-law, (1829-1914).<br />

Per fess Gules and Argent a pale counterchanged and three cross crosslets fitché, two and one, <strong>of</strong> the second all within a bordure gobony Or and<br />

YOUNG William Young, JP, <strong>of</strong> Stanhill Court, Charlwood, (1825-96), 4 th son <strong>of</strong> John Young <strong>of</strong> Rowmore, Dumbartonshire, a<br />
merchant in Glasgow, matriculated arms, 1882. He was succeeded by his eldest son John Kirkpatrick Young, MA (Oxon), <strong>of</strong> Stanhill Court,<br />
barrister-at-law, (1857-1924), who was father <strong>of</strong> William Wallace Young, BA (Oxon), Captain, Rifle Brigade. (BLG14)<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Argent three piles Sable on a chief Azure a cushion between two annulets Or.<br />

YOUNG Gerard William Mackworth Young <strong>of</strong> Rookery Farm, Westcott, (b. 1926), younger son <strong>of</strong> Gerard Mackworth Mackworth-<br />
Young, CIE, MA (Cantab), FSA, ICS, (1884-1965), and descended from Captain Sir George Young, 2 nd Bart., RN, (1797-1848), from whom<br />
descends also Simon Bainbridge Young, MA (Cantab), <strong>of</strong> Wentworth House, The Green, Richmond, (b.1928), 3 rd son <strong>of</strong> Sir Hubert Winthrop<br />
Young, KCMG, DSO, (1885-1960), Governor and C-in-C, Trinidad and Tobago, 1938-42. Of the same family, the Rev. Albert Stewart<br />
Winthrop Young, VD, MA (Cantab), (1842-1918), Vicar <strong>of</strong> Kingston-upon-Thames, 1877-1918, Rural Dean, 1887-1909, was 4 th son <strong>of</strong> the<br />
above mentioned Sir George Young, 2 nd Bart., and Lieutenant-Colonel Courtenay Trevelyan Young <strong>of</strong> Brownes Lodge, West Street, Reigate,<br />
(b.1914), 2 nd son <strong>of</strong> Sir George Young, 4 th Bart., MVO.<br />
<strong>Arms</strong>: Per fess Sable and Argent in chief two lions rampant guardant and in base an anchor with chain all counterchanged.<br />
Crest: A demi unicorn couped Ermine maned armed and ho<strong>of</strong>ed Or gorged with a naval crown Azure supporting an anchor Sable.<br />
Motto: Be right and persist. (BP105)<br />
YOUNG Robert Young <strong>of</strong> Newcastle-upon-Tyne, merchant, (d.c.1655), had issue, amongst others, Robert Young <strong>of</strong> Newcastle,<br />
merchant, (1639-70), another son, Christopher Young, MB, <strong>of</strong> Newcastle, (1637-92), who recorded a pedigree at the Visitation <strong>of</strong><br />
Northumberland, 1666. He had issue, amongst others, Thomas Young <strong>of</strong> Durham, (b.1677), whose son Robert Young, later <strong>of</strong> Turnham Green,<br />
Middlesex, (1718-91), was described by Sir Cuthbert Sharp * as a footman. He married, 1757, Dorothy, (1730-1806), daughter <strong>of</strong> Robert Chilton<br />
<strong>of</strong> Little Chilton, Co. Durham, sister and heir <strong>of</strong> Robert Chilton, and widow <strong>of</strong> John Carter, also described by Sir Cuthbert Sharpe as a footman.<br />
Their children included the Rev. Thomas Chilton Lambton Young, MA (Cantab), <strong>of</strong> Richmond (1769-1826), grandfather <strong>of</strong> Charles Fred<br />
Trelawney Young, (b.1826), whose son Frederick Charles Chilton Young was born at New Cross, 1863; and the Rev. George Chilton Lambton<br />
Young, MA (Cantab) <strong>of</strong> Lambeth Terrace, (1771-1820). (EXH)<br />

Crest: Out <strong>of</strong> a mural coronet a goat's head. (FVN)<br />
Robert Young (1639-70) above sealed his will dated 1670 with: .... on a chevron .... three roundles .... on a chief .... two mullets ....<br />
