<strong>Arms</strong>: Argent two chevrons Azure within a bordure engrailed Gules.<br />

Crest: A boar head couped and erect Argent, out <strong>of</strong> the mouth a peacock tail Proper.<br />

As borne (SV1623) by John Tirrell <strong>of</strong> Reigate, son <strong>of</strong> John Tirrell and grandson <strong>of</strong> John Tirrell, both <strong>of</strong> Burstow.<br />

TOKE Colonel John Leslie Toke, VD, JP, <strong>of</strong> Conewood, Camberley, and <strong>of</strong> Bucksford, Kent, (1839-1911), was succeeded at<br />

Bucksford by his 2 nd son Leslie Alexander St. Lawrence Toke, BA (Oxon), (b.1871).<br />

TOLHURST John Tolhurst <strong>of</strong> St. Olave's, Southwark, (1791-1849), was father <strong>of</strong> John Tolhurst <strong>of</strong> Glenbroke, Beckenham, Kent, JP for<br />

<strong>Surrey</strong>, (b.1834).<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Argent a fess nebuly Sable between three crescents in chief <strong>of</strong> the last issuing therefrom fire Proper and a bull's head erased<br />

in base <strong>of</strong> the second.<br />

Crest: A cubit arm in armour Proper between in the dexter side a decrescent and on the sinister side an increscent Sable the hand<br />

Proper grasping a bull's head as in the arms.<br />

Motto: Alta peto.<br />

TOLLEMACHE <strong>of</strong> Helmingham Hall, Suffolk, and after 1698 <strong>of</strong> Ham House in Petersham, which last, with the titles <strong>of</strong> Lord Huntingtower<br />

and Earl <strong>of</strong> Dysart, they obtained through the marriage <strong>of</strong> Sir Lionel Tollemache, (d.1669), <strong>of</strong> Helmingham with Elizabeth, Countess <strong>of</strong> Dysart,<br />

(see under Murray <strong>of</strong> Ham House). Baronet, May 22, 1611, Extinct Mar 1821.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Argent a fret Sable, for Tollemache, quartered Murray <strong>of</strong> Ham House.<br />

Crest: A horse head couped Argent between two wings erect Or.<br />

Supporters: Two antelopes Proper, attired and unguled Or.<br />

Motto: Confido conquiesco. (MB i 368; Brayley iii 119)<br />

Louisa, sister and heiress <strong>of</strong> William Tollemache, Earl <strong>of</strong> Dysart, and by his death Countess <strong>of</strong> Dysart in her own right, married John Manners,<br />

(d.Sep 3, 1792), <strong>of</strong> Grantham Grange, Lincolnshire, an illegitimate son <strong>of</strong> Lord William Manners and grandson <strong>of</strong> the 3 rd Duke <strong>of</strong> Rutland and by<br />

him had issue, Sir William Manners <strong>of</strong> Hanby Hall, Lincolnshire, who was created a baronet on Jan 12, 1793 and assumed the name and arms <strong>of</strong><br />

Talmash Apr 6, 1821.* The latter's son, the 8 th Earl <strong>of</strong> Dysart, restored the spelling <strong>of</strong> Tollemache. William, the 3 rd baronet and 9 th Earl, (d.Nov<br />

22, 1935), whereon the baronetcy, but not the earldom, passed to a distant cousin Sir Lyonel Tollemache <strong>of</strong> Hanby Hall. These later Tollemaches<br />

have borne the above arms, supporters and motto, but have used for crest A horse head erased Argent between two wings Or semy <strong>of</strong> pellets. **<br />
