ROBERTS Walter Roberts inherited Leigham Court, Streatham, from his great-uncle Sir John Howland, (dsps 1649), and assumed the<br />

name Howland, but dying sp, he bequeathed the manor to his nephew Sir Thomas Roberts, 4 th Bart., (d.1706 aged 47), whose 2 nd son Sir Walter<br />

Roberts, 6 th Bart., (dspm 1745), left a daughter and heir Jane who carried Leigham Court to her husband George, 3 rd Duke <strong>of</strong> St. Albans, qv.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Azure on a chevron Argent three mullets Sable.<br />

Crest: An eagle displayed Argent gorged with a chaplet Vert. (BGA)<br />

ROBERTS Sir Owen Roberts, DL, JP, MA, DCL (Oxon), <strong>of</strong> Henley Park, Guildford, (1835-1915), Clerk and Master <strong>of</strong> the Worshipful<br />

Company <strong>of</strong> Clothworkers, was eldest son <strong>of</strong> Owen Roberts, <strong>of</strong> Dinas, Caernarvonshire.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Per fess Sable and Or a lion rampant counterchanged holding between the forepaws a knight's helmet Proper and in chief two<br />

leopards' faces jessant-de-lys <strong>of</strong> the second.<br />

Crest: A lion, rampant per fess Sable and Or gutté counterchanged holding in the dexter forepaw a branch <strong>of</strong> three roses Argent<br />

stalked and leaved Proper and resting the dexter hind paw on two annulets interlaced <strong>of</strong> the second.<br />

ROBERTS Sir George Roberts, 1 st and last Bart., <strong>of</strong> Martholme, Wandsworth, (1859-1950), was <strong>of</strong> Martholme, Parkside, Wimbledon.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Azure on a fess dancetté between in chief two lions rampant and in base a garb Or three estoiles <strong>of</strong> the field.<br />

Crest: Issuing from a coronet composed <strong>of</strong> six pheons set upon a rim Or a demi stag Proper gorged with a collar engrailed Gold.<br />

ROBERTS The Rev. John Drew Roberts, <strong>of</strong> Queenhill Road, Sanderstead, (b.1863), son <strong>of</strong> Michael Roberts <strong>of</strong> Kilmoney Abbey, (1817-<br />

82).<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Azure on a chevron Argent cotised Or three mullets <strong>of</strong> six points Sable pierced <strong>of</strong> the field.<br />

Crest: On a mount Vert an eagle displayed Ermine wings Argent wreathed round the neck with ivy Proper.<br />

Motto: Post funera virtus.<br />

ROBERTS Fox-Davies recorded Edward Roberts <strong>of</strong> Tulse Dale Villa, Lower Norwood, (presumably deceased in 1929), as father <strong>of</strong><br />

George Roberts <strong>of</strong> Tulse Dale Villa.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Gules a chevron Ermine cotised Argent between two pheons in chief <strong>of</strong> the last and in base a plate.<br />

(1849-1916), by his wife Helen Alexandrina Melian, (d.1933), eldest daughter and coheir <strong>of</strong> Alexander Durdin, LL.D, JP, <strong>of</strong> Huntington Castle,<br />
