VAUGHAN-MORGAN Baron Reigate. Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Kenyon Pascoe Vaughan-Morgan, OBE, DL, RASC, <strong>of</strong> Sarisberie,<br />

West Clandon, (1873-1933), 2 nd son <strong>of</strong> Edward Vaughan Morgan, <strong>of</strong> 22 Harrington Gardens, London, (1838-1922), by his wife Emmie,<br />

(d.1928), daughter <strong>of</strong> John Irving Pascoe, <strong>of</strong> Surbiton, married, 1897, Muriel Marie, (d.1934), Heir <strong>of</strong> John Collett, <strong>of</strong> the Admiralty, and had a<br />

2 nd son Sir John Kenyon Vaughan-Morgan, 1 st Bart., BA (Oxon), <strong>of</strong> Ashcr<strong>of</strong>t, Outwood, (b.1905), MP for Reigate, 1950-70, who was created<br />

Baronet, 1960, and a Life Peer as Baron Reigate <strong>of</strong> Outwood, 1970.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Quarterly, 1 and 4, Or five lozenges conjoined in fess Gules between three lymphads sails furled Sable colours flying Gules<br />

(Morgan); 2 and 3, Sable on a chevron Or between three boys' couped at the shoulders Proper crined Or enwrapped about the neck with a snake<br />

3, Sable a bend Or between six fountains (Stourton).<br />

Crests: 1, A cock Gules charged with a fountain (Vavasour); 2, A demi monk habited in russet his girdle Or and wielding in his<br />

VENN The Rev. John Venn, MA (Cantab), (1759-1813), a founder <strong>of</strong> the CMS {Church Missionary Society} and Rector <strong>of</strong><br />

Clapham, 1792-1813, was father <strong>of</strong>, amongst others, the Rev. Henry Venn, (1796-1873), latterly <strong>of</strong> Sheen. His elder son the Rev. John Venn,<br />

ScD, FRS, FSA, (1834-1923), Curate <strong>of</strong> Mortlake, 1860-2, was father <strong>of</strong> John Archibald Venn, MA, (1883-1958), President <strong>of</strong> Queen's College,<br />

Cambridge, who was compiler <strong>of</strong> Alumni Cantabrigenses, part ii and collaborator with his father <strong>of</strong> part i.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Erminois on a bend Gules between six fleurs-de-lys Azure three escallops Argent.<br />

Crest: Upon a mount Vert a lion passant Ermine the dexter paw resting on an escutcheon Azure charged with a fleur-de-lys Or.<br />

VENNING Colonel Walter King Venning, CMG, CBE, MC, DCLI, <strong>of</strong> Heath End, Farnham, (b.1892), son <strong>of</strong> Edward Venning, AMICE,<br />

Financial Assistant to the Director <strong>of</strong> Public Works, Ceylon, (1842-1914).<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Per saltire Argent and Gules two fleurs-de-lys in pale and as many stags' heads cabossed in fess counterchanged.<br />

Crest: A demi stag reguardant resting the sinister foot on an escutcheon Gules charged with a fleur-de-lys Argent and gorged with a<br />

collar Vair.<br />

Sir Edward Wingfield Verner, 5 th Bart., <strong>of</strong> David's Vere, Farnham, on the latter's death, 1936. Of the same family, William Henry Verner <strong>of</strong><br />

Kenley, (1842-1903), a Judge in the ICS, and Charles Augustus Verner <strong>of</strong> Bletchingley, (1847-1908), were sons <strong>of</strong> William Verner, DL, JP,<br />

(1807-93), Lieutenant-Colonel, Antrim Artillery, Treasurer <strong>of</strong> Co. Antrim.<br />

<strong>Arms</strong>: Argent on a fess Sable between three boars' heads <strong>of</strong> the second fretty Or a trefoil slipped <strong>of</strong> the last.<br />
