MAGNAY William Macnay <strong>of</strong> Fair Heather Braes, Argyll, (d.1788), settled at Housesteads, Haltwhistle, Northumberland, and changed<br />
his name to Magnay, 1745. His eldest son John Magnay <strong>of</strong> Williamswick Tower, Northumberland, (d.1799), was father <strong>of</strong> Christopher Magnay<br />
<strong>of</strong> The Manor House, Wandsworth, (1767-1826), Sheriff <strong>of</strong> London and Middlesex, 1813, and Lord Mayor <strong>of</strong> London, 1821. The latter's 2 nd son,<br />
Sir William Magnay, 1 st Bart., <strong>of</strong> Postford House, (1795-1871), Sheriff <strong>of</strong> London and Middlesex, 1841, and Lord Mayor <strong>of</strong> London, 1843, was<br />
created Bart., 1844. The title became extinct on the death, 1960, <strong>of</strong> his grandson Major Sir Christopher Boyd William Magnay, 3 rd and last Bart.,<br />
