It must always drawa clear line of demarcation between itself and bourgeois nationalism,to which it must never fall captive.The 1960 Statement says:Communists expose attempts by the reactionary sectionof the bourgeoisie to represent its selfish, narrow class interestsas those of the entire nation; they expose the demagogicuse by bourgeois politicians of socialist slogans for thesame purpose. . . .If the proletariat becomes the tail of the landlords and bourgeoisiein the revolution, no real or thorough victory in the nationaldemocratic revolution is possible, and even if victoryof a kind is gained, it will be impossible to consolidate it.In the course of the revolutionary struggles of the oppressednations and peoples, the proletarian party must put forwarda programme of its own which is thoroughly against imperialismand domestic reaction and for national independenceand people’s democracy, and it must work independentlyamong the masses, constantly expand the progressive forces,win over the middle forces and isolate the reactionary forces;only thus can it carry the national democratic revolutionthrough to the end and guide the revolution on to the road ofsocialism.10.
