The U.S. imperialists saw the all-outattack on Stalin by the leadership of the CPSU as somethingthat was “never so suited to our purposes”, 1 they talked openlyabout using Khrushchov’s secret report as a “weapon withwhich to destroy the prestige and influence of the Communistmovement” 2 and they took the opportunity to advocate“peaceful transformation” in the Soviet Union. 3The Titoites became most aggressive. Flaunting theirreactionary slogan of “anti-Stalinism”, they wildly attackedthe dictatorship of the proletariat and the socialist system.They declared that the 20th Congress of the CPSU “createdsufficient elements” for the “new course” which Yugoslaviahad started and that “the question now is whether this coursewill win or the course of Stalinism will win again”. 4The Trotskyites, enemies of communism, who had been indesperate straits, feverishly resumed activity. In its Manifestoto the Workers and Peoples of the Entire World the so-calledFourth International said:Today, when the Kremlin leaders are themselves admittingthe crimes of Stalin, they implicitly recognize that theindefatigable struggle carried on . . . by the world Trotskyistmovement against the degeneration of the workers’state, was fully justified.The errors of the 20th Congress brought great ideologicalconfusion in the international communist movement and1Radio talk by T.
