Basing himself on the Marxist-Leninist theory of violentrevolution and the new experience of the proletarian revolutionand the people’s democratic revolution led by the proletariat,Comrade Mao Tse-tung advanced the celebrateddictum that “political power grows out of the barrel of a gun”.Comrade Mao Tse-tung said:. . . revolutions and revolutionary wars are inevitable inclass society and that without them, it is impossible toaccomplish any leap in social development and to overthrowthe reactionary ruling classes and therefore impossiblefor the people to win political power. 1He stated:The seizure of power by armed force, the settlement ofthe issue by war, is the central task and the highest formof revolution. This Marxist-Leninist principle of revolutionholds good universally, for China and for all othercountries. 2He stated further:Experience in the class struggle in the era of imperialismteaches us that it is only by the power of the gun that theworking class and the labouring masses can defeat thearmed bourgeoisie and landlords; in this sense we may saythat only with guns can the whole world be transformed. 3To sum up, violent revolution is a universal law of proletarianrevolution. This is a fundamental tenet of Marxism-Leninism.
