APPENDIX IICOMPETENT AUTHORITIESA. Competent authorities of the EC PartyMonitoring is shared between the national services of the Member States and the Commissionof the European Communities. In this respect the following applies:– as regards exports to signatory Central African States, the Member States of theEuropean Community shall be responsible for the monitoring of production conditionsand requirements, including statutory inspections and the issuing of health (or animalwelfare) certificates confirming compliance with the agreed standards and requirements;– as regards imports from signatory Central African States, the Member States of theEuropean Community shall be responsible for monitoring the imports' compliance withthe EC Party's import conditions;– the Commission of the European Communities shall be responsible for overallcoordination, inspections/audits of inspection systems and the necessary legislativeaction to ensure the uniform application of standards and requirements within the SingleEuropean Market.B. Competent authorities of the signatory Central African StatesThis authority shall be vested in the signatory Central African States for imports and exportsto and from their respective territories.CE/PAC/Appendix/en 2
