Several exceptional finds, such as a brooch from Opava–Kateřinky and a belt–clasp fromÚvalno, show that persons of high status could afford even exceptionally valuable decorative objects,the wearing of which was probably connected to some important religious function.An old, heavily collapsed gallery with remains of a wooden construction dated by 14 C to the 13 thcentury BC, discovered at Suchá Rudná, shows that the history of this mining area – famous in medievaltimes – goes back as far as the Lausitz culture period; this was apparently a gold mine.
