When a solid material has dissolved in a<br />

liquid, the molecules of the liquid separate all<br />

the molecules of the solid. The dissolved<br />

material, the solute, can be recovered in<br />

unaltered chemical form from the solvent. For<br />

example, if the liquid evaporates the solute<br />

molecules will coalesce into a solid material,<br />

unaltered in chemical form.
