participation on the part <strong>of</strong> the User (e.g., map lookup based on<br />

address entered).<br />

3.2.2 Delivery Channel.<br />

A Delivery Channel specifies the level <strong>of</strong> access to the LRS services based<br />

on the type <strong>of</strong> network used to deliver such services. The LRS shall<br />

include a secure Gateway connecting the LRS and the LAnet/EN. This<br />

Gateway shall support the appropriate COUNTY standards for<br />

information security (e.g., authentication, encryption).Users will access<br />

LRS services in multiple ways, including:<br />

• LAnet/EN via Local Office Sites: This is the private network <strong>of</strong> the<br />

COUNTY. It includes many inter-linked local area networks (LANs)<br />

and is used to share information and resources.<br />

• LAnet/EN via VPN: This is the extension <strong>of</strong> the LAnet/EN to Users<br />

outside <strong>of</strong> LAnet/EN perimeter security. It is based on COUNTY<br />

VPN standards, technology, and policies and is used to share business<br />

information or operations securely with COUNTY suppliers, Vendors,<br />

partners, customers, and others.<br />

• Internet: The Internet shall be used by various Users, including<br />

applicants, participants, caregivers, and the general public, to access<br />

the LRS.<br />

3.2.3 Service Transport.<br />

Service Transport encompasses the standards and protocols used to deliver<br />

LRS services. The LRS shall deliver its services via the LAnet/EN.<br />

Therefore, LRS communications shall be compatible with COUNTY<br />

standards for end-to-end network management including access and<br />

delivery protocols.<br />

The LRS shall interoperate with the LAnet/EN architecture, including the<br />

supporting network services such as electronic messaging/e-mail and<br />

directory services/directory access protocols. The LRS security design<br />
