Case Details:
On 11 January 2000, victim Jyotshna Thandar was married her husband. Soon after the
marriage, her husband and mother-in-law began physically attacking Thandar.
On 20 January 2007, her husband and mother-in-law attacked Jyotshna with a dagger and she
received serious injuries and was rendered unconscious. Thandar was admitted to a hospital.
On 22 January 2007, Thandar’s father attemptes to lodge a complaint with the Jalangi PS, but the
PS refused to receive the complaint.
On 8 February 2007, Thandar’s father lodged a FIR at Jalangi PS under section 498A/326 of
IPC at Jalangi PS. After being arrested, Thandar’s husband and mother-in-law managed bail
and have subsequently threatened to kill Thandar and her father.
SI Utpal Das of Jalangi PS has taken all original and copies of hospital documents detailing
Thandar’s injuries and have not given them to Thandar or her father.
