the Jalangi PS went to Ramakantapur and Nabingram to investigate, but he did not find any foul
Habib Sheikh, Kajimuddin Sheikh, and Haidar Sheikh u/s 364/120B/201 IPC (abduction,
proceeded to nullify the SI’s earlier findings.
On 14 May 2007, OC Somnath Bandyopadhyay ordered the SI to arrest Sahad Ali Sheikh,
Ahad Ali Sheikh, Habib Sheikh, Kajimuddin Sheikh, and Haidar Sheikh. The SI did so at
officers. They broke the main entrance and entered the house of Yasin Sheikh. Then the officers
ransacked the house and misbehaved with the women in the house. There was no female police
officer present. The police dragged Yasin Sekh into their car, took him into their custody, and
produced him before the Court.
On 25 June 2007, Kajim Sekh’s father Naimuddin Sekh lodged a complaint with the Superintendent
Kajim Sekh and others are now hiding, as the police frequently etner their homes and harass
their families.
Case Details:
On 24 May 2007, police personnel from Karaya PS went Yasmin Banoo’s house. They asked
her, her husband Shaukat Ali, and her brother-in-law Manzar Hussein to come to the station on
the basis of a complainant by Reshma Azmi. One officer asked Yasmin Banoo, ostensibly as a
matter of law, to put on all of her ornaments; she did so, excepting her nose ring. When she
refused to put in her nose ring, the officer quarrelled with her.
