OC Somnath Babu, SI Swapan Saha, and ASI Anandababu seized Ichhahaque Mondal’s<br />
tractor and demanded money without lodging any case against him. They held his tractor<br />
without placing the matter before a court.<br />
Ichhahaque urged the police to produce his tractor in court so that he could get it back through<br />

Case Details:<br />
There were about 100 families residing at Rajabazar. The families generally were engaged in<br />
occupations like pulling vans, scavenging and maid servants. In June and August 2007, the<br />
Narkeldanga police attempted to drive the families from the area. After, the families began living<br />
in temporary tents provided by some voluntary organizations.<br />
In August, the Narkeldanga police raided the families temporary shelters, ransacked their<br />
houses, and then burned their tents. The people then moved to the streets.<br />
Later in August 2007, the police threatened to set fire homes and verbally abused the women<br />
of the area.<br />
